George 18th

George 18th
6th July 2013

A few words we’ve written on this page
About George who today comes of age

18 today our little man
Enjoy your celebrations as much as you can

In 1995 you did arrive
And along with Michael you changed our lives

A cute little baby it was clear to see
And you loved your bottle of tea

Your favourite toy was Geoffrey the gorilla,
With Barney and BJ under your pillow (Pilla)

Always colourful and a little bit loud
In bright orange clothes you stand out in the crowd

In the early days you went to Roby Park School
With Grace and JCD acting the fool

I worked there so special attention you did get
You of course had to be the teacher’s pet

At home you’d play in the garden with Rachel and Steph
Back and forward you go through the gap in the fence

Games with Michael Cricket and tennis
At times you could be a bit of a menace

Weekends in Formby they were good times
On the assault course you’d swing and you’d climb

Walks to the beach and down the sand hills
Trips to Southport for fairground thrills

To the 2p slot machines we would pop
Then for our dinner at the fish and chip shop

Back to the caravan for a BBQ
Grandma and Granddad would join in too

Holidays abroad mainly in Spain
Can Picafort we’d go again and again

Days on the beach for the sun we would crave
With face masks on jumping the waves

On sea adventures you would go
Splashing about on your new lilos

When bored with the sun to the Euro bar we’d nip
And on the way back have some mint choc chip

Day trips out in our hired car
In the night playing pool at Charley’s bar

Made some good friends like Luciano and William
And every year we go back and see them

Your senior School Bowring Park was just over the road
You were a popular student or so we are told

Pretty well behaved never involved in a barney
Your favourite teacher Mr Carney

Not far to travel you were on a winner
And the Kelshaws used to come for dinner

But the school it moved near the Kelshaw’s house
So they returned the favour Proper scouse!!!

You liked your sport especially cricket
And with your spin bowling for Huyton took many a wicket

You were good with the bat it was plain to see
We thought we had the next KP!!!

You interest waned while you enjoyed the fun
You didn’t like the fact you had to run

Now golf is your sport you play with me
Early mornings on a Saturday

You get good distance your drives are great
Maybe one day you’ll hit one straight!!!

Not bad with your irons some good shots I’ve seen
But you’re rubbish with your putter on every green

Playing golf with you can be quite funny
And I usually end up taking all the money

So now you’re grown up what do you do
You certainly like a drink or two

You love your food you are the man
And love nothing better than a nice big scran

With me as you mother you are on a winner
And are famous in work for your massive dinners

Curry, Pasta whatever’s in the house
A large roast dinner or a large pan of scouse

A salad dodger we must say
You much prefer a take away

You like your nights out and trips to town
When we’re away your mates come round

You enjoy some music and a drink
What else goes on we’d hate to think

As soon as were in bed your mates come from the pub
To the Jeffereys Crescent social club

Nights watching films and TV who could want more
Your favourite show is called Geordie Shore

You are living the dream getting out and about
Wonderful holidays and party nights out

Trip to V festival having a rave
Sharing mad stories about crazy Dave

Out with your cousins and all of the crew
A great bunch of friends who looked after you

Trips to the Dam on the beer bike
Trip to Mallorca with good friends and Mike

In Malia sleep by day and party at night
You came back with no sun tan totally white

To pay for these times to work you must go
George runs the Warrant Group if you didn’t know

He’s been there a couple of years and often tells me
He soon to be appointed the next MD!!!

George enjoys family time and being quite silly
Especially at dinner with his uncle Billy

Granddad George and Cathy have to close their ears
As this sort of thing they don’t want to hear

A laugh with uncle Steve you know how it goes
And you often discuss a bob on the nose

Family are greeted with a handshake or kiss
Paul, James and John and of course uncle Chris

Loved by your aunties Val Netty and Diane
They all think that you are the man

Granddad John thinks you’re full of fun
But you’re nowhere near as good as his son!!

Uncle Richard could help you learn to cook
And has been known to share advice on face book

Shelly your cousin is that her voice I can hear
Sadly I’m joking she’s not really here

But she does send her love she thinks you are great
And would have loved to help you celebrate

Joanne and Philip complete the family tree
All great relatives I am sure you will agree

Now  everyone thinks George is great
Happy go lucky and everyone’s mate

Let me let you in to a secret he can be quite boring
And is a miserable bastard in the morning

He wears his angry face and can be quite blunt
If you talk to him all you’ll get is a grunt

In the mornings he is just plain bad
Well at least he is for his Mum and Dad

But we still love him I don’t know why
When he’s not at home it makes us cry

Your mum says she never sleeps when you are away
Thinking about you every minute of the day

She tells you this but I know the score
When we’re in bed I can hear her snore

She does miss you and has a little weep
But nothing keeps Mum away from her sleep!

George now your 18 and have come of age
Your living arrangements you need to change

You need to get yourself a woman and make her you wife
And give your Mum and Dad back their life

Any lady in the room  who could take George away
Please do so quickly and I’ll happily pay

And as a bonus if you like
I even throw in his brother Mike

We say all this in fun and jest
As both our sons are the very best

We would not swap them for anything although they’re a pain
Well just maybe for a house in Spain

So George happy birthday enjoy your day
You deserve the good things that come your way

Enjoy the days ahead and grab life with both hands
And I’m sure your life will turn out grand

I’m sure your life will be filled with Joy and fun
This poem is sent with best wishes from Dad and Mum

Also best wishes from all gathered here
Lets finish this poem and get on with the beer
