Michael 18th

Today is the day it’s finally come
The 18th birthday of our big lanky son

So here we are all gathered here
To toast Michael with a wine and a beer.

Born in March 1993
He changed our life from 2 to 3

A very proud Mum a very proud Dad
As it happens you haven’t turned out bad

Born with a click hip, didn’t make us happy
As it doubled the cost for us, when buying your nappies

As a baby you were always cute
Chubby cheeks a bit of a Beut

A bottle of hot chocolate your favourite drink
You called it a warm which was made up with milk

Before you could walk before you could run
You weren’t a crawler you’d shuffle on your bum

Thomas the Tank engine your favourite toys
You had all the engines when you were a boy,

You’d line them all up in neat little rows
And with a toot of the whistle off Percy goes

Mostly good engines but some they were evil
Troublesome Trucks and Dirty Diesel

Then along came George your favourite Brother,
He has to be, you haven’t got another

Many a battle you may have had
But over all as brothers you haven’t been bad

Most of the time you get on well
Until George beats you at FIFA and all turns into hell

Roby Park was your first school
On your first day you looked so cool

You started to learn your ABC’s
And the went on to 123’s

You made many friends I’ll name some of them
Higgy, Tanker Bally and Ben

I think this time you did enjoy
At Roby Park as a young school boy

Bowring Park was your next stop
Just over the road a skip and a hop

At this school you were the Man
Deputy Head Boy and played the steel pans

Mrs Lancaster your favourite, English she taught
You passed your exams and without too much thought

Very good at maths numbers and equations
Got very good grades on every occasion.

Again some good friends you made on your way
And lots of good memories of your school boy days

Summer days spent in Formby
With Grandma and Granddad, George Mum and Me

Walk down the beach a game in the park
Trips to Southport and fires in the dark

BBQ meals a walk in the woods
Memories come back of times that were good.

Holidays in Portugal at Villa one
Off to sea life to have us some fun

Sea lions dolphins and seeing the whales
Then off to the pools for a relax and an ale

Holidays in Mallorca at Charley’s Bar
Arrive at the airport and hire a car

Day on the beach the boiling hot sun
Making sand castles and having good fun.

In the evening in Charley’s with George playing pool
Then sleeping on the Balcony to keep ourselves cool

You like to play sport whatever it may be
Cricket football or a game on the wii

A game of tennis a throw of the darts
And for fun let’s see who makes the loudest farts

Footballs the one you love the most
And of a very good keeper I can proudly boast,

In your time you played for many a team
And a reliable player you’ve always been

You main team the Mags you been with for years
We had some good games and shared a few tears

Granddad George used to often be there,
But stopped coming along when he heard you swear

One trip to Yarmouth in memory does linger,
Some great football played and you broke your finger

In a cup game once you saved 2 pens,
All played out on you tube again and again.

You support Liverpool, you’ve witnessed highs and lows,
You’ve seen some great players play, you’ve seen them some come and go

One great night you witnessed when our cup was full

Was 25th May 2005, that night in Istanbul.

Now to your bad points I’m sure this won’t take long,
Michael the smart arse, he’s never wrong

Also at meal time, he can be a pain
He says I don’t like things, again and again

If it isn’t a Pizza, you know you can’t win
Most of the food will end up in the bin

The other food he likes you can count on one hand
But whatever it is, it must be the right brand.

When shopping for shoes it’s very hard to do,
As your feet they are the size of canoe

He hogs the TV with his favourite shows
If it isn’t Friends or Scrubs off it goes

The V festival is a highlight for you every year
You have a great time and don’t even drink beer

You see all the groups you take up you quota,
Your highlight last year was a song called Dakota

And now you’re grown up and finishing at college
Let’s hope you have gained sufficient knowledge

The rest of your life lies ahead
So get off your arse and get out of bed

Grab each opportunity with both hands
Smile and enjoy and it will turn out grand

First on a long haul to see the Aussies,
Hoping Keith does not wear that cozzy

Behave yourself and don’t be a pain
I’m sure you’ll be looked after by cousin Lorraine

Melbourne Sydney you will get around,
And hopefully see a few Cricket grounds

And if you bump into some Pommy bashers,
Remind them all that we won the Ashes!!

While you’re away remember us here
Waiting to welcome you back with a beer

So happy Birthday big man, Happy birthday to you,
From all us here gathered old friends and new

Life can be as good as that night in Istanbul
So enjoy the days ahead and live them to the full

We hope your life is filled with joy and you have lots of fun
This rhyme is sent with special wishes from your Dad and Mum.
