Grooms speech.

Steve’s wedding speech 15th May 2010

 Welcome to our wedding party,
I hope you found the meal whole and hearty,

Please relax and enjoy the fun,
The parties only just begun,

I thank you for travelling from near and far
By plane by boat and some by car,

You are all welcome please be assured,
And with my speech please don’t get bored

We’ve known each other for many years,
We’ve had some fun we shared some tears,

Claire from Port Erin Isle of Man
Mike her Dad and Gloria her Mam,

The Wirral the place is where I am from
Ray my Dad and Angela my Mum

After all these years the time has come,
To make a commitment as we have done,

Today is the day we two are one,
The wedding ceremony it has been done,

And now we are happy to live together,
Through thick and thin for ever and ever,

We met long ago when at Manchester Uni
I wasn’t as fat, in fact quite puny,

Students together we had good times
A lot of beers and a good few wines

We’ve had many holidays apart and together
A lot of experiences well remember for ever,

Portugal, Holland Canada and Spain
Some sunny weather and our fair share of rain

Out on the slopes, skiing in France
Out in the clubs and having a dance,

Enjoying our holidays, days that we miss,
Especially the days spent out on the Piste

Claire seems to attract the funniest of folk,
On subways and buses it’s really no joke,

A singer a drunk a man with a beard,
It’s really quite true and oh so weird

The weirdest one I know you’ll believe,
A lad from the Wirral with name of Steve

At first when I proposed Claire was is doubt,
I begged as with Claire I can’t do without,

I asked her the reason, please explain why,
She told me I’m rubbish at DIY,

Holes in the wall, Gas pipes cut through,
These are the problem to name one or two,

I promised to stop and leave it alone,
Before I blew up our Manchester home,

As long as you promise Claire said to me,
I will say yes to your wedding Plea

So we were Engaged in 2008
Cape Town South Africa,We thought it was great,

Planning our wedding for this very day
Who we’d invite and who’d bloody pay

A few special thank you I’d now like to make,
Before we get on and cut the cake,

To Graham my best man thank you to you,
For doing a good job and helping me through

To our lovely BridesmaidsWho are with us tonight,
You all look terrific in dresses so bright,

Catrina, Emma and Toni too
From the bottom of our hearts a big thank you

To Mums and Dads both,I’ll give a big shout,
For doing your bit and helping us out,

You been there for us, you’ve helped on our way,
And now we’ve arrived at our wedding day,

I’ll treat you all later and shout you some beers,
As without you all we wouldn’t be here

Of course I would also like to thank the wife,
For allowing me to be part of her life,

I’m now her husband and can shout very loud
To marry Claire I am very proud

How lovely she looks all dressed up in white
I can’t wait to get her in to bed tonight

So now we look forward to settling down,
Calm our lives, no more nights on the town,

Cosy together sounds very neat,
And maybe the sound of tiny feet,

Don’t think the wrong thing I didn’t mean that,
I’m talking about Hesky our little cat

And now my speech must come to and end,
With one last big thanks to family and friends,

I raise up my glass a last time to you all,
Let’s get on with the party and all have a ball.
