Lindsey’s Maternity Leave Poem

A tale of Lindsey and Beryl the bump

You leave us today for maternity leave
It’s come round so quick I cannot believe

But the time is now here, this is the day
That you start your five month holiday

Relaxing and chilling a walk round the shops
What a great holiday you’ve got the lot

Just one little job you will have to do
Is deliver your baby which will be easy for you

A quick trip to hospital a push and a shove
And out will pop the baby you’ll love

From what we know it’s a little girl that’s due
And I’m sure she’ll be a miracle to you

Such a big miracle in such a little girl
I know she will become a big part of your world

I speak about your holiday but this is only in jest
I know as a mother you are one of the best

You only have to look at Liam and it’s clear to tell
You’ve brought him up right you’ve brought him up well

You’ve done a great job mainly on your own
But as we say in Liverpool you’ll never walk alone

You have the support of all of us here
And of your Mum Bernie that’s so very clear

Family and friend will always be there for you
If you ever need a helping hand or two

So good luck to you I hope all goes well
Get in the labour ward and give them hell

Push and shove scream and shout
Until that bundle of joy pops out

And then again you can scream out loud
“Of my daughter I’m so very proud”
